First Visit
First visit when having infertility problems
If you cannot get pregnant for more than one year or you already know or suspect that you cannot conceive naturally, do not hesitate to contact us. We even recommend that women over 36 years of age should visit a specialist a little bit earlier. Women over 38 should visit a specialist as soon as possible as the coverage for some treatment options (IVF) by the insurance company is limited by age. We are ready to advise and help you.
Making an appointment is really easy. Just call the telephone number 257212516 – 18 or 602 328 346 nebo recepce@gest.cz and arrange the date for your visit. We respect your time and this is one of the fundamental attributes of our care and the range of surgery hours (8 a.m. – 7 p.m.) allows us to offer you an appointment even in the evening. Near the clinic you can park in the paid parking lot behind the clinic. The clinic is located directly at the metro, tram, bus and train station Smíchovské nádraží. For your first visit you can come any day of your menstrual cycle, ideally with your partner. Please remember to take your health insurance card - if you are insured. In case of any questions please contact us by mail (info@gest.cz).
Referral to treatment:
If our clinic was recommended to you by your gynaecologist, we would welcome his/her written recommendation. If you or your partner have undergone any examinations relating to infertility, take them with you, please. If you have already undergone any infertility treatment or gynaecological operation, the report on this treatment (an extract, surgical protocol, discharge report) will be a great help for us. Your gynaecologist, with whom you remain registered, should know that you attend the Centre of Reproductive Medicine. You have to continue in going for medical examinations (oncological cytology) to him/her and you will be transferred to his/her care after successful treatment, i.e. after conceiving.
Financial aspect:
Almost all examination and consultation regarding infertility is covered by public health insurance. Unfortunately, the ovarian reserve testing (anti-mullerian hormone fertility testing (AMH) is the exception, but gynaecological professional society is negotiating with insurance companies so that this could be covered again.
Tubal patency test (HyCoSy – hysterosalpingoconstrastsonography)
You can also make an appointment only for tubal patency test performed by using ultrasound contrast where saline solution is used as a contrast agent. This examination is the most gentle of all possible tubal patency tests. You need to make an appointment in the first half of the menstrual cycle, i.e. 1-6 days after the end of your period. After examination (approx. 15 min.) the patient goes home, ideally accompanied, and we recommend a relaxing regime for 24 hours. It is paid by insurance company partially only.
Semen analysis (spermiogram):
You can make an appointment only for semen analysis. Before the examination it is recommended to keep 2-4 days of sexual abstinence. It is also possible to analyse a sample which you bring with you; however, we do not recommend it. Transport might lower the quality of sperm. If the results from the sample you brought with you are all right, there is no problem. However, in case of pathological findings it is unclear how much the deviation from the standard was affected by the transport of sperm and time delay.
Health insurance companies:
We have contracts with all health insurance companies in the Czech Republic. The only exception is the health insurance company Revírní bratrská pokladna.
