History
GEST, the Centre of Reproductive Medicine, started operations at the beginning of 1998. A new IVF laboratory, gynaecological surgeries and an operating room started to work here under one roof. This was the completion of the commitment to provide a top-class comprehensive professional care, provided jointly by MUDr. Miloš Čekal and MUDr. Jan Šulc. These former classmates from the Medical Faculty of Charles University, from which they graduated in 1981, both chose the field of Gynaecology and Obstetrics and then they worked for 10 years at reputable clinics in Prague.
In 1992 they together founded one of the first private gynaecological practices in the country in Březová Street, Prague 8. The aim of both doctors was to offer services on a completely different level than those provided by government facilities. The growth in the number of patients and a shared interest in the issue of infertility resulted in 1994 in opening another clinic in Prague 6, Na Ořechovce 7, where they expanded the treatment of infertile couples by an in vitro fertilization programme (IVF transport system).
At the beginning of 1998, the Centre of Reproductive Medicine starts its operation in Prague 5, Nad Buďánkami II/24. The newly refurbished premises gave home to a working place providing comprehensive care for infertile couples, including in vitro fertilization and embryotransfer (IVF+ET), where gynaecologist – the specialists on the issues of infertility - cooperate with other experts from the fields of embryology, andrology, sexuology, internal medicine and clinical genetics. A new embryology laboratory and operating room were created here. The company introduced the latest methods improving the care for infertile couples: the donation of gametes and embryos and preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD).
April 2017 saw our clinic become an integral part of NEXTCLINICS, the multinational network of IVF clinics. This company controls as many as twenty reproductive medicine clinics in Europe and intends to extend globally. A possibility has therefore opened up for our clinic to become a member of a strong group that will help us develop in an international environment, share our experience with other colleagues, work for other clinics and take the services on our offer to a yet higher professional and qualitative level. In the Czech Republic, Nextclinics also controls a network of outpatient surgeries and laboratories, including the genetic laboratory in Pilsner; this will enable us to extend our offer to clients by these services provided directly within our network.
Nowdays the villa in Budánky is gradually no longer sufficient, both in terms of size and layout, for the needs of the clinic, which is why in December 2018 it was moved to new place. In Prague 5, in Nádražní Street, right next to the metro (underground), bus, tram and train station. The clinic has an entire floor with an area of 1000 m2, built according to European legislation for centers of reproductive medicine, but above all exactly according to the needs of our embryologists and doctors.
